The River Wyre, a country pub in Poulton-Le-Fylde
We’ve got everything you need from a country pub near you.
Built in 1896, the pub was originally called The River Wyre Hotel, local reports at the time said that it attracted some very distinguished guests.King Edward VII was once seen drinking here with a group of gentlemen, and in the 1940's British stage and film acting couple Barry Barnes and Diana Churchill were regular visitors. It is thought that nearby Fleetwood was the first planned town of the Victorian era.
Our menus are full of hearty favourites and country pub classics, as well as our seasonal dishes, and we’ll be ready with a well-stocked bar, including cask ales, fine wines and British gin to suit very taste - which will taste all the better when enjoyed either in our beautiful gardens or by our crackling log fires.
Charming country pubs in lovely locations
An imposing pub with great riverside walks, The River Wyre has counted smugglers, royalty and actors among its guests. The Skippool History Trail nearby offers fine views of Skippool Creek and the Wyre estuary.
Whether you’re out walking your dog or just exploring the local area, there’s always plenty to do around The River Wyre.
