The Hawes Inn, a country pub in South Queensferry

We’ve got everything you need from a country pub near you.

The Hawes Inn has strong connections with the celebrated author Robert Louis Stevenson, who was born in Edinburgh on the 13th November 1850. It is said that he stayed in the Inn and actually wrote part of the famous novel 'Kidnapped' in one of the rooms. Indeed the Kidnapped actually includes a passage about the Hawes Inn.

Our menus are full of hearty favourites and country pub classics, as well as our seasonal dishes, and we’ll be ready with a well-stocked bar, including cask ales, fine wines and British gin to suit very taste - which will taste all the better when enjoyed either in our beautiful gardens or by our crackling log fires.

Charming country pubs in lovely locations

With views over the Firth of Forth, The Hawes Inn has an inspirational location - certainly for Robert Louis Stevenson, who while staying in room 13 in 1886 came up with the idea for 'Kidnapped'.

Whether you’re out walking your dog or just exploring the local area, there’s always plenty to do around The Hawes Inn.
